‘Now you must not take anything for granted when you are looking at a picture. Never do that. Every single little tiny space on that page works and counts.”

William Eggleston

I am an artist and admittedly I see the world through different eyes then most people; I see the beauty in things that may be considered boring, decrepit, overlooked, rusting, deteriorating, or mundane.  I enjoy photographing this subject matter which could be described as banal, boring and everyday. What seems at first to be a simplistic image is in fact quite complex and nothing in the frame can be taken for granted.   These images are meant to be hung on a wall, to be viewed, to be studied and to be questioned to reveal their inner beauty.  These images are just not “pretty pictures.” read more

Photography is a small voice, at best, but sometimes one photograph, or a group of them, can lure our sense of awareness.

“While we cannot describe its appearance (the equivalent), we can define its function. When a photograph functions as an Equivalent we can say that at that moment, and for that person the photograph acts as a symbol or plays the role of a metaphor for something that is beyond the subject photographed.”
Minor White
My photographs are usually quite simple in composition, a single subject matter and a clean as possible stark background.  Lately I’ve been toying with the idea of complex designs with the possibility of no single subject, and this late March ice storm and it’s fallen trees gave me the chance to try it out.  I’m pleased with the results and here is the first image from this series.  This image is available as a framed, canvas or art print at Crated.com.  This image is also available printed on metal at Displate.com. As an added incentive for these Fine art prints or framed artworks; email me your particulars along with your order information and I promise to mail you a small certificate of authenticity with the image title along with my signature which can then be attached to the back of the piece.  Stop by, have a look, leave a comment, like it, and buy a print for your home or office decor needs you will not be disappointed.

“When I looked at things for what they are I was fool enough to persist in my folly and found that each photograph was a mirror of my Self.” Minor White
