Tuba Mouthpiece Two

Tuba Mouthpiece

One does not think during creative work, any more than one thinks when driving a car. But one has a background of years – learning, unlearning, success, failure, dreaming, thinking, experience, all this – then the moment of creation, the focusing of all into the moment.

I am pleased to anounce the addition of two new prints to my “Forgotten Music” series:  “Tuba Mouthpiece,” and “Tuba Mouthpiece Two,” now available at Fine Art America.  These prints along with other prints from the series “Forgotten Music” would make a fine addition to any ones wall decor. read more

Violin Profile 2

A photographic still life study of a well used and played now retired high school orchestra violin in profile.

A great photograph

is a full expression of what one feels

about what is being photographed

in the deepest sense, and is, thereby,

a true expression of what one feels

about life in its entirety.

They were given or presented to us on our first day of music class, most of them pristine and perfect in their protective cases or coverings. But that was soon to change being under the charge of teenage or child musicians. Once the pride of a adolescent musician, a high school band or orchestra, they are soon forgotten and relegated to a corner of a dusty warehouse to await their fate.  Each piece with their dents, bruises and worn off finishes; a story to tell, and if we’re lucky fond memories of forgotten music for us.  I’m pleased to anounce this image, “Violin Profile 2” is available at Fine Art America, along with the initial version “Violin Profile” overlaying old sheet music. read more

Ghost Pumpkins

A photograph of grey pumplins found at a rural fruit market.

I was looking for fall flowers and decorative fall cabbages to shoot at a rural fruit market when Audrey spotted these large blue grey pumpkins in a basket.  Looking down at them I just knew these pumpkins were the shot of the day; looking at the raw image on my computer I knew I had to post them right away, instead of the other image I had planned.  I didn’t do much Photoshop work on this image and there is no desaturation applied.  Feel free to comment, Google + this post, share it across the social media universe and if interested contact me for print sales details.  Enjoy. read more
